In the spring of 2016 the Greensboro Mural Project partnered with Irving Park Elementary to work with the students of the local elementary school to create a mural in one of their buildings. Lead artist, Korinna Sergent , went to work visiting several different grades art classes polling them for what interested them (black holes were an unexpected trend). The mural Korinna created features elements of STEAM curriculum (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math), but she didn’t stop there and created a second mural in the lobby. Nearly 200 students got to help paint the murals as part of field day, with several designs being created by the students!
